Bob and Joanna actually met in 2012 when they were just 16 years old. They both attended a summer camp at Stanford for highschool students to live on campus and take summer courses. They lovingly refer to it as "Nerd Camp"! And will always be thankful for this Nerd Camp that brought them together despite growing up 2,000 miles apart.

This picture was taken on the first night of Stanford Summer Session in June 2012 (see if you can spot them!). This is the night they met during orientation for their dorm. From their first meeting, Joanna remembers Bob's sense of humor and bright blue eyes. Bob remembers Joanna's big personality and even bigger curly hair! Their friendship solidified over the following 8 weeks of camp.

In 2019 Bob moved to San Francisco for work and Joanna came back for grad school. They reconnected and their dating story began in September 2019. Fun fact: the wedding weekend will be their seventh dating anniversary! In the early days, Joanna took Bob to her favorite spots in the city and they explored new places together. When COVID shut down the city, Bob and Joanna spent their time making memories in the kitchen. They share a love of cooking which continues be something they love doing together.

Over the next seven years, they introduced each other to family and friends, spent holidays together, traveled and continued to build a life together that they cherish!

On March 15, 2025 Joanna was recovering from a bad cold. She'd been down for the count all week. It was the first weekend in 2025 that Bob and Joanna were both home with no plans (or so Joanna thought). Bob suggested they go to Noah's bagels and Peet's coffee - a weekend morning routine since they started dating in 2019. After a late breakfast, Bob thought Joanna would feel better after a walk in the park. She popped some Ibuprofen and off they went to the San Francisco Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park. They strolled around the park looking at all of the fresh flower blooms of early spring and enjoyed some sunshine. Bob suggested they stop to rest on a bench in a quiet part of the park and that's where he asked Joanna to marry him!
